The MES Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, integration, and continuous improvement of Manufacturing Execution Systems across production facilities. This role ensures real-time visibility, traceability, and optimization of manufacturing operations through digital tools that connect shop floor data with enterprise systems.
Lead the strategy, development, deployment, and maintenance of MES platforms to support production, quality, and compliance needs.
Manage MES integration with ERP, SCADA, PLCs, and other automation and business systems.
Define MES functional requirements, workflows, and configurations in collaboration with operations, IT, and engineering teams.
Ensure system uptime, data accuracy, and user adoption across the organization.
Oversee MES-related projects, including upgrades, enhancements, and new rollouts.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using MES data and analytics.
Ensure data governance, cybersecurity, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Train end-users, support issue resolution, and manage relationships with software vendors.
System Implementation & Integration:
Lead the deployment of MES platforms and ensure seamless integration with automation systems (PLCs, SCADA) and enterprise tools (ERP, WMS, QMS).
Real-Time Production Visibility:
Provide actionable insights on shop floor operations including order tracking, machine utilization, quality status, and work-in-progress.
Data Accuracy & Traceability:
Ensure end-to-end traceability of materials, processes, and production activities for compliance, quality, and operational transparency.
Downtime and Performance Analytics:
Utilize MES data to track OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), downtime causes, and production bottlenecks for informed decision-making.
User Experience & Adoption:
Design user-friendly interfaces and train staff to effectively use MES tools, ensuring high adoption and low error rates.
Compliance & Validation:
Maintain system documentation and validation records to meet industry standards (e.g., GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO).
Vendor & Project Management:
Coordinate with MES vendors and manage implementation timelines, budgets, testing, and system enhancements.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field; Master’s preferred.
5–8 years of experience in MES implementation and support in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FTPS, Aveva Wonderware, GE Proficy, etc.).
Understanding of manufacturing processes (discrete, batch, or continuous) and system integration best practices.
Experience with SQL databases, data reporting tools (Power BI/Tableau), and basic understanding of OT/IT networks.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
