The Manager – Turbocharger Design & Validation leads the engineering team responsible for the design, development, and validation of turbocharger components and systems for automotive powertrains. This role ensures the delivery of robust, high-performance turbocharging solutions through rigorous design methodologies, simulation, prototyping, and testing. The manager coordinates cross-functional teams and supplier partners to meet performance, reliability, emissions, and cost targets.
Lead and mentor a team of design and validation engineers focused on turbocharger development.
Plan, prioritize, and manage resources and project timelines to deliver key milestones.
Drive continuous improvement and adoption of best practices in turbocharger design and validation.
Oversee detailed design of turbocharger components including compressor and turbine wheels, housings, shafts, bearings, and actuators.
Utilize CAD, CAE, and CFD tools to optimize turbocharger aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical integrity.
Collaborate with material and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
Define and implement validation plans including durability, thermal, vibration, and performance testing.
Lead failure mode and root cause analysis to enhance product reliability.
Coordinate prototype builds, test bench setups, and on-vehicle testing programs.
Work closely with engine calibration, controls, and system integration teams to align turbocharger performance with powertrain requirements.
Manage technical relationships with turbocharger suppliers and testing service providers.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality benchmarks.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace Engineering or related field required
Master’s degree preferred
8+ years in turbocharger or rotating machinery design and validation
3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
Experience with turbocharger aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical design
Proficiency with CAD tools (CATIA, NX, Creo), CFD (STAR-CCM+, Fluent), and CAE software
Strong knowledge of turbocharger testing methods and instrumentation
Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards
Effective team leadership and project management skills
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers
