The Manager – Transmission and Hydraulic Valve Design is responsible for the design, development, and validation of hydraulic valves and related components used in automatic, dual-clutch, CVT, or heavy-duty transmissions. This includes shift control valves, pressure regulators, solenoid valves, clutch control valves, and hydraulic manifolds.
The manager leads a team of design engineers, collaborating closely with system architects, calibration, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure robust valve performance, seamless integration, and compliance with system-level requirements.
Lead the end-to-end design of hydraulic valves for transmission applications—from concept through production.
Ensure components meet flow, pressure regulation, actuation response, leak-tightness, and thermal performance targets.
Develop specifications, DFMEAs, and design validation plans for new valve concepts and platforms.
Ensure valve performance aligns with overall transmission hydraulic circuits, torque converter systems, and control strategies.
Collaborate with transmission architecture, pump design, and control system teams to optimize valve functionality.
Support hydraulic modeling and simulation using tools such as AMESim or GT-SUITE.
Manage component- and system-level testing of hydraulic valves for pressure regulation, dynamic response, durability, contamination resistance, and NVH.
Oversee development of test rigs and instrumentation, and support vehicle-level validation activities.
Coordinate failure analysis, root cause investigations, and implementation of design improvements.
Interface with global suppliers to review designs, DFM inputs, PPAP submissions, and quality audits.
Support sourcing decisions, cost optimization, and lifecycle management for hydraulic valve components.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering on assembly processes, cleanliness standards, and end-of-line testing.
Lead a team of engineers and designers in executing product development projects across multiple programs.
Track project deliverables, schedules, budgets, and engineering resource allocation.
Provide mentorship and foster technical growth across the team.
