We are seeking a skilled and dependable Mid-Level Maintenance Technician to perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of valve systems onboard ships and other marine platforms. This role requires hands-on experience with mechanical systems and a solid understanding of fluid control components in marine environments. The technician will work independently or as part of a maintenance team, ensuring critical shipboard valves operate reliably across systems such as seawater, fuel, bilge, fire main, and hydraulics.
Valve System Maintenance: Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance of manual and actuated valves (ball, butterfly, gate, globe, check, pressure relief) within shipboard fluid systems.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Investigate valve failures or system inefficiencies, determine root causes, and carry out or recommend corrective actions.
Disassembly & Overhaul: Conduct valve disassembly, cleaning, inspection, part replacement (seals, seats, stems), reassembly, and functional checks.
Testing & Verification: Assist in hydrostatic testing, air leak checks, and actuator operation tests to validate valve performance and integrity.
Regulatory Compliance: Follow procedures aligned with marine safety, environmental, and classification society requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV, IMO).
Technical Documentation: Record maintenance activities, part usage, and system conditions accurately using maintenance logs or CMMS software.
Maintain and repair shipboard valve systems across propulsion, HVAC, bilge, fuel, and seawater systems.
Follow standard operating procedures and interpret valve maintenance manuals and schematics.
Replace valve components, flanges, seals, and actuators as required.
Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks.
Maintain inventory of tools, gaskets, seals, and spare valves.
Support shipyard or drydock projects involving valve replacements or system upgrades.
Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to confined space and lockout/tagout protocols.
Train or support junior technicians in performing routine tasks.
Technical diploma or trade certification in Mechanical, Marine Engineering, or related field.
3–5 years of experience maintaining mechanical or valve systems, preferably in a marine or industrial setting.
Solid knowledge of valve operation, fluid dynamics basics, and mechanical system layouts.
Ability to read mechanical drawings, valve schematics, and P&IDs.
Proficient in using torque tools, valve pullers, pressure gauges, and maintenance equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
Comfortable working onboard ships, in engine rooms, and within confined or elevated spaces.
Clear written and verbal communication; attention to detail in reporting and documentation.
Experience working with shipboard or offshore marine valve systems.
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
Working knowledge of ABS, DNV, USCG, or IMO maintenance and safety requirements.
Ability to interpret OEM maintenance documentation and parts catalogs.
Welding, pipefitting, or actuator calibration experience is a plus.
