The Senior Maintenance Technician – Mechanical Systems leads the execution of advanced maintenance and repair activities for mechanical equipment in manufacturing or industrial operations. This role provides expert-level troubleshooting, supports system upgrades, and ensures optimal equipment reliability and uptime. The senior technician serves as a technical mentor for junior staff, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to align maintenance strategies with operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of complex mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, motors, gear drives, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and HVAC equipment
Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks across production and utility areas
Support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Guide installation and commissioning of new equipment and mechanical upgrades
Collaborate with reliability engineers and planners to improve maintenance processes, reduce downtime, and optimize asset performance
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and technical documentation using CMMS
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and lead by example in promoting safe work practices
Mentor, train, and support junior technicians and maintenance apprentices in best practices and technical skills

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Technical diploma, trade certification, or associate degree in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred
Experience:
6–10+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance in manufacturing or industrial environments
Proven experience leading major repairs, system overhauls, or equipment upgrades
Technical Skills:
Advanced understanding of mechanical components, hydraulics, pneumatics, alignment, vibration, and thermal diagnostics
Proficient with tools and technologies such as laser alignment, ultrasonic testers, and condition monitoring systems
Skilled in reading technical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics
Experience using CMMS platforms for tracking maintenance and asset history
