The Senior Maintenance Technician – Fluid Systems and Valves is a highly skilled technical expert responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of fluid handling systems, including complex valve networks, pumps, heat exchangers, and piping systems. Operating in a leadership capacity, the technician ensures high reliability of process systems, supports training and mentoring of junior staff, and plays a key role in system optimization, regulatory compliance, and root cause analysis.
This position is critical in high-stakes environments such as pharmaceutical, food and beverage, biotech, or chemical processing plants, where equipment uptime and sanitary or safety compliance are paramount.

Independently maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex valve systems, including pneumatic, electric, mixproof, diaphragm, and control valves.
Overhaul and test critical pumps, seals, regulators, and fluid routing systems.
Optimize valve actuation sequences and performance through parameter adjustments.
Lead investigations into recurring valve, actuator, or system failures.
Utilize diagnostic tools (flow meters, pressure sensors, valve positioners) for fault detection.
Implement long-term corrective actions to reduce equipment downtime.
Develop and execute advanced PMs and predictive strategies using CMMS and condition monitoring.
Recommend part replacements based on wear analysis and usage trends.
Coordinate with engineering to test and implement improved maintenance procedures.
Ensure all maintenance activities are documented according to SOPs, GMP, and safety standards.
Support QA, safety, and regulatory inspections by maintaining accurate equipment history and calibration logs.
Validate repairs and changes through approved change control processes when required.
Mentor and train junior and mid-level technicians in system operation, repair, and documentation practices.
Act as a technical liaison with engineering, production, and quality teams during projects and troubleshooting events.
Support project planning, utility shut-down coordination, and equipment commissioning.
Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
5+ years of experience maintaining industrial fluid systems, preferably in regulated industries.
Strong understanding of sanitary design, hygienic valve systems, and fluid dynamics.
Expert knowledge of valve technologies (e.g., Alfa Laval, SPX, Burkert, GEA, Emerson).
Proficiency with CMMS platforms (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
Skilled in interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, and control system diagrams.
Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and actuator feedback systems is a plus.
Experience participating in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, TPM, Six Sigma).
