The Mid-Level Maintenance Technician performs intermediate to advanced maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft Environmental Control System (ECS) components, including HVAC systems and air cycle machines (ACMs). This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, a solid understanding of ECS operations, and the ability to work independently on assigned maintenance tasks while ensuring compliance with FAA, EASA, and OEM requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct teardown, inspection, reassembly, and functional testing of ACMs, heat exchangers, refrigeration units, valves, and ECS subcomponents
Troubleshoot and diagnose performance issues using technical documentation and test equipment
Interpret and apply maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and engineering directives for ECS systems
Perform intermediate-level repairs including component replacement, seal installation, and balancing of rotating machinery
Operate test benches and equipment to validate repaired HVAC/ECS components
Complete detailed maintenance records, work orders, and inspection logs in accordance with regulatory standards
Follow and enforce safety, quality, and cleanliness procedures within the maintenance facility
Collaborate with quality assurance, engineering, and logistics teams to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement
Provide guidance and informal training to junior technicians
Ensure parts, tools, and documentation are properly used and controlled

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Technical diploma or associate degree in Aircraft Maintenance, Aerospace Technology, or HVAC Systems (required)
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification strongly preferred
Experience:
3–6 years of hands-on experience in aircraft component or HVAC maintenance, including ECS systems or rotating equipment
Experience in an MRO or aerospace repair station environment
Familiarity with common aircraft ECS components (ACMs, turbines, expansion valves, etc.)
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of ECS and HVAC system functionality, troubleshooting, and component-level operation
Skilled in using precision tools, gauges, borescopes, and test rigs
Ability to interpret OEM manuals, FAA/EASA regulations, and repair specifications
Proficiency in documenting maintenance work and navigating ERP or maintenance tracking systems (e.g., AMOS, RAMCO, TRAX)
