The Junior Maintenance Technician supports inspection, maintenance, and repair activities for aircraft Environmental Control System (ECS) components, with a focus on HVAC units and air cycle machines (ACMs). Working under the supervision of senior technicians and engineers, this entry-level role is hands-on and requires attention to detail, safety, and adherence to maintenance procedures in compliance with aviation standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of air cycle machines, heat exchangers, valves, and HVAC system components
Perform basic cleaning, visual inspections, and part replacements under supervision
Support troubleshooting and diagnostic testing of ECS and HVAC units in accordance with maintenance manuals
Follow FAA/EASA maintenance practices and documentation procedures (e.g., completing work orders, recording findings)
Use precision tools and equipment (e.g., torque wrenches, calipers, borescopes) safely and accurately
Assist in test cell or bench testing operations to validate component performance
Help maintain shop tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and organized manner
Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory protocols related to aircraft maintenance and MRO activities
Participate in on-the-job training and cross-training in ECS maintenance processes and standards
Report issues or potential discrepancies to senior staff or quality inspectors

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or GED (required)
Technical certificate or associate degree in Aircraft Maintenance, Aerospace Technology, or HVAC Systems (preferred)
FAA A&P certification in progress or completed is a strong advantage
Experience:
0–2 years of hands-on mechanical or aircraft maintenance experience (school, co-op, or internship experience considered)
Exposure to HVAC systems, pneumatics, or aircraft ECS components is a plus
Technical Skills:
Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools, measuring equipment, and maintenance procedures
Ability to read maintenance manuals, part diagrams, and service bulletins
Understanding of basic HVAC and air cycle system function is helpful
Comfortable working with tools and components in a shop environment
