The Senior Maintenance Supervisor – Instrumentation is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and reliability improvement across the plant or facility. This role includes supervising maintenance teams, optimizing processes, ensuring compliance, and playing a key role in planning and executing maintenance strategies that enhance operational efficiency and safety.
Develop and implement long-term preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for instrumentation and control systems.
Analyze maintenance data to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Collaborate with engineering for instrumentation upgrades and system improvements.
Lead and mentor a team of instrumentation technicians and junior supervisors.
Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and implement skill enhancement programs.
Coordinate daily and weekly maintenance schedules and ensure execution with high quality and safety standards.
Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex instrumentation issues including PLCs, transmitters, analyzers, and control valves.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for critical failures and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Guide configuration, calibration, and testing of new or upgraded instrumentation systems.
Ensure all instrumentation maintenance activities comply with industry regulations, internal standards, and safety protocols (HSE, OSHA, ISO).
Manage documentation including calibration certificates, loop checks, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
Conduct risk assessments and participate in audits, safety reviews, and incident investigations.
Monitor KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and equipment uptime to assess performance.
Identify and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices.
Work closely with operations and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement in system performance.
Ensure availability of spare parts, tools, and testing equipment for uninterrupted maintenance operations.
Review and optimize inventory levels in coordination with procurement and stores.
Implement digital maintenance tools (CMMS) for efficient asset tracking and planning.
Expert knowledge of process instrumentation (pressure, level, flow, temperature, analytical).
Strong hands-on and theoretical understanding of PLCs, SCADA/DCS systems, HART, and Foundation Fieldbus protocols.
Leadership, decision-making, and strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to manage cross-functional teams and coordinate with other departments.
Proficient in interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, control schematics.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
8–12 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or senior supervisory role.
Experience in industries such as oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, power, or manufacturing.
Familiarity with CMMS tools (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
Certification in maintenance/reliability (e.g., ISA, CMRP) is a strong plus.
