Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor Mid-level  – Instrumentation will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of all instrumentation systems to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted plant operations. This role ensures adherence to industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance while leading a team of technicians.


Key Focus Areas & Responsibilities:

1. Instrumentation Maintenance & Calibration

  • Supervise maintenance and calibration of process instruments such as pressure, flow, level, temperature transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and safety devices.

  • Ensure all instrumentation systems are operating within defined performance parameters.

  • Implement and monitor calibration schedules as per statutory and quality standards.

2. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans for instrumentation systems.

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment failures, sensor malfunctions, and signal losses.

  • Minimize downtime by ensuring timely repair and replacement of faulty instruments.

3. Team Supervision & Workforce Management

  • Lead a team of instrumentation technicians: assign tasks, monitor work quality, and evaluate performance.

  • Organize training sessions to enhance team skills and ensure adherence to safety and operational procedures.

  • Supervise contractor activities and ensure work is completed to standards.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, calibration records, and equipment history.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on instrumentation health and performance.

  • Ensure documentation is audit-ready and aligned with industry and internal standards.

5. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company safety practices, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), work permits, and hazard identification.

  • Conduct safety audits, participate in incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.

  • Adhere to ISO, OSHA, or other applicable regulatory requirements.

6. Inventory & Asset Management

  • Monitor and manage inventory of critical instrumentation spares, consumables, and tools.

  • Coordinate with the procurement team to maintain optimum stock levels.

  • Ensure calibration and maintenance tools are up-to-date and serviceable.


Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation and control systems.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA/DCS systems, HART and Foundation Fieldbus protocols.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings such as P&IDs and loop diagrams.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Effective team leadership, planning, and communication abilities.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.

  • 5–8 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Experience in industries like oil & gas, petrochemicals, water treatment, power, or manufacturing.

  • CMMS proficiency (e.g., SAP, Maximo) is an advantage.

  • Certification in instrumentation calibration or maintenance is a plus.
