The Mid-Level Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily machining operations, supervising a team of CNC and manual machine operators, and ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations. This role bridges the gap between shop floor execution and senior management, driving operational efficiency, process improvements, and workforce performance.
Production Supervision & Coordination:
Plan, schedule, and monitor machining operations to meet daily production targets.
Allocate work orders to operators based on skill level, machine capacity, and priorities.
Team Supervision:
Supervise and guide machine operators, setters, and support staff across shifts.
Conduct job training, ensure compliance with SOPs, and address operator concerns.
Tooling & Machine Utilization:
Ensure appropriate tooling is available and used correctly.
Monitor machine utilization, downtime, and initiate minor troubleshooting as needed.
Quality Assurance:
Oversee in-process inspections and ensure machined parts meet dimensional accuracy.
Collaborate with the QA/QC team to address deviations, rework, and root cause analysis.
Safety & 5S Implementation:
Enforce safety protocols and promote a clean, organized workspace.
Lead 5S, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance routines.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain production records, shift reports, and downtime logs.
Provide updates to the Production Manager on shift performance, challenges, and improvements.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and recommend process enhancements, cycle time reductions, and cost-saving initiatives.
Support implementation of lean manufacturing and TPM practices.

Effective communicator with skills in reporting and conflict resolution.
Capable of production planning, task prioritization, and troubleshooting.
Education:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering or equivalent
Certifications (Preferred):
CNC Tooling, Lean Manufacturing, Safety (e.g., 5S, TPM, OSHA)
Experience:
4–8 years in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment
2+ years in a supervisory or team lead role preferred
