Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Machine Operator with extensive hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC cutting machines, press brakes, punching systems, and plate/pipe rolling machines. The ideal candidate will independently manage complex jobs, mentor junior operators, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure quality and productivity standards are met consistently.

Key Focus Areas:

1. Advanced Machine Operation & Setup

    • Independently handle complete setup and calibration of CNC profile cutters, hydraulic press brakes, turret punches, and rolling machines.

    • Adjust machine parameters and tooling for material thickness, bend angles, and tolerance requirements.

2. Drawing Interpretation & Process Execution

    • Interpret complex fabrication drawings, bend sequences, flat patterns, and tolerance callouts.

    • Execute jobs as per production plans, ensuring minimal scrap and accurate outcomes.

3. Quality Control & Process Optimization

    • Perform precise in-process and final dimensional inspections using high-accuracy instruments.

    • Suggest and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times, tool wear, and setup changeovers.

4. Troubleshooting & Preventive Maintenance

    • Diagnose and resolve issues related to machine alarms, tool offsets, punch/bend inaccuracies, or CNC errors.

    • Collaborate with maintenance teams on preventive maintenance schedules and report critical machine health indicators.

5. Leadership & Training

    • Supervise and mentor junior and mid-level operators in job setup, safety practices, and quality standards.

    • Coordinate with production planners, welders, and design teams for seamless job flow.

Responsibilities:

    • Operate fabrication machines to deliver high-precision parts per production requirements.

    • Manage shift output, minimize downtime, and ensure adherence to work instructions.

    • Maintain accurate production logs, setup sheets, and inspection records.

    • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and housekeeping practices.

    • Provide feedback to engineering or design teams on manufacturability or fixture design.

Required Qualifications:

    • ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Tool & Die, Fabrication, or related discipline.

    • 5+ years of experience in operating fabrication machinery in a production setting.

    • Strong command of CNC interfaces, press brake programming, punch/bend libraries, and bend allowance calculations.

Preferred Skills:

    • Familiarity with advanced machine brands (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, Accurpress, Durma).

    • Ability to work with sheet metal of various thicknesses and materials (MS, SS, aluminum).

    • Basic exposure to CAD/CAM software, nesting tools, or ERP/MES systems.

    • Working knowledge of Lean, 5S, and ISO 9001 production environments.
