Machine Operator – CNC, Press Brake, Punching, Rolling

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a skilled Mid-Level Machine Operator with working experience in CNC profile cutting, press brake, punching, and rolling machines. The candidate will be responsible for executing production jobs independently, reading fabrication drawings, performing quality checks, and ensuring adherence to safety and productivity targets.

Key Focus Areas:

1. Independent Machine Operation & Job Execution

    • Operate CNC profile cutters, hydraulic press brakes, turret punch presses, and plate/pipe rolling machines with minimal supervision.

    • Perform setup changes, tool alignment, and machine parameter adjustments based on job requirements.

2. Technical Drawing & Process Interpretation

    • Read and interpret 2D fabrication drawings, bend allowances, punch patterns, and job cards.

    • Understand bend radii, punch dies, part tolerances, and cut sequences.

3. Process Quality & Dimensional Checks

    • Conduct in-process quality checks using vernier calipers, height gauges, protractors, and templates.

    • Identify basic defects (warping, edge burring, incorrect bend) and take corrective action.

4. Productivity, Cycle Time, & Maintenance Support

    • Monitor and optimize machine cycle times and part output as per plan.

    • Perform basic troubleshooting, routine cleaning, and support preventive maintenance activities.

5. Team Collaboration & Shop Floor Documentation

    • Work closely with material handlers, welders, and engineers for workflow coordination.

    • Update production reports, quality logs, and shift handover notes accurately.

Responsibilities:

    • Independently operate assigned machines and meet daily production targets.

    • Ensure part accuracy, reduce rework/rejection, and maintain housekeeping in the work zone.

    • Follow safety SOPs for machine handling, sharp tools, and lifting operations.

    • Report machine faults, tool wear, or process deviations to maintenance or supervisors.

    • Mentor junior operators or apprentices during job setup and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

    • ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, Machinist, Tool & Die, or related trade.

    • 2–4 years of experience operating fabrication machines in a workshop or plant.

    • Proficiency in reading fabrication or mechanical drawings and using precision tools.

Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with multi-axis press brakes, CNC plasma/laser cutting, or AMADA/Trumpf/Accurpress machines.

    • Familiarity with CNC machine interface, bend simulation software, or nesting software.

    • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and quality standards (ISO 9001/14001).
