Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator Manager to oversee the machine operations in our manufacturing facility. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing the machine operator team, ensuring efficient machine setup, operation, and maintenance, and optimizing production processes. You will be the key point of contact for coordinating machine operations, implementing best practices, and ensuring high levels of productivity, quality, and safety. This position offers the opportunity to manage a team, improve operational processes, and contribute to the overall success of the production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise the machine operator team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure optimal performance.
- Organize the work schedule for machine operators, ensuring that production targets are met and downtime is minimized.
- Conduct performance reviews, set individual goals, and foster a positive work environment focused on safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the training and development of new and existing machine operators to ensure they are proficient in machine operation, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.
Production and Machine Operation Oversight:
- Oversee the setup, operation, and adjustment of machinery to ensure production targets are met efficiently and safely.
- Ensure machines are operated within the parameters of safety, quality, and efficiency, continuously monitoring performance to identify and resolve any issues.
- Implement best practices to optimize machine performance, including conducting regular reviews and updates to operational procedures.
Quality Control and Process Improvement:
- Work closely with the quality control team to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Monitor machine outputs and conduct quality checks, ensuring that production remains consistent and within required tolerances.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase product quality.
- Investigate and resolve machine malfunctions or quality issues quickly to minimize production delays.
Maintenance and Equipment Management:
- Ensure routine maintenance schedules are followed, and oversee machine repairs or upgrades as needed.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure machines are running at peak efficiency and downtime is minimized.
- Ensure machine operators perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as required.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Enforce adherence to safety protocols and ensure that all machine operators are trained on and follow workplace safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and quality control standards.
- Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring that all employees are aware of and adhere to health and safety requirements.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with production managers, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure that machines are set up and operating according to production schedules and product specifications.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine performance, quality, and production timelines.
- Lead meetings with the machine operator team to review production targets, discuss challenges, and align on goals.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of machine operations, performance, and downtime, ensuring traceability and transparency.
- Provide regular reports to senior management regarding production progress, machine performance, and team performance.
- Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements for machine performance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in machine operation, production management, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of machine operation, setup, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with common production machinery such as CNC machines, lathes, grinders, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Proficiency in using production management software, data analysis tools, and reporting systems.
- Knowledge of quality control standards and experience working with quality assurance teams.

Certifications (Preferred):
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certifications.
