The Junior MES Integration Engineer will assist in the implementation, configuration, and support of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). This role is ideal for candidates with a technical background in software, automation, or industrial systems, who are eager to grow within the field of digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Support MES integration projects by assisting in system configuration, testing, and deployment activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including automation, IT, and production to gather requirements and ensure accurate MES data mapping.
Assist in the development and deployment of interfaces between MES, PLC/SCADA systems, and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP).
Perform basic troubleshooting and bug-fixing during testing and live deployment phases.
Support documentation activities including user manuals, system configuration notes, and validation reports.
Participate in FAT, SAT, and validation activities for MES modules (e.g., production tracking, electronic batch records, downtime tracking).
Ensure adherence to industry standards, cybersecurity protocols, and GMP/regulatory requirements where applicable.
Provide post-go-live support to production and maintenance teams.
MES Platforms (Manufacturing Execution Systems):
Exposure to or familiarity with systems like Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Werum PAS-X, GE Proficy, or AVEVA/Wonderware.
Understanding of how MES fits into the automation pyramid (between ERP and shop floor).
System Integration & Data Mapping:
Learn to integrate MES with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and ERP systems using industry protocols (OPC, MQTT, REST, etc.).
Assist in mapping shop floor data (e.g., machine states, production counters) to MES data models.
Basic Scripting & Configuration:
Work on minor scripting or configuration using SQL, JavaScript, or XML as part of MES customization.
Learn and use MES configuration tools and dashboards.
Testing & Validation Support:
Participate in testing cycles: Unit Testing, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and UAT (User Acceptance Test).
Help maintain traceability matrices and deviation logs.
Documentation & Reporting:
Contribute to the creation of SOPs, configuration guides, and validation documents.
Record integration and testing results clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Learning & Development:
Continuously upskill in MES systems, Industry 4.0 standards, and digital manufacturing concepts.
Stay updated on best practices in MES integration, cybersecurity, and industrial data analytics.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or related field.
Experience: 0–2 years (internship or academic project in MES or automation integration is a plus).
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems and manufacturing operations.
Familiarity with SQL databases and data structures.
Any exposure to OPC UA, MQTT, or REST APIs is an advantage.
Soft Skills:
Quick learner with analytical thinking.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
