The Senior Loop Testing Technician leads and executes the verification, troubleshooting, and documentation of control and instrument loops during pre-commissioning and post-commissioning phases. This role involves expert-level testing of analog and digital loops, integration with DCS/PLC systems, supervision of junior technicians, and direct coordination with the control room and engineering teams to ensure safe and successful plant commissioning.
Loop Check Leadership – Supervise and conduct complete loop checks for pressure, temperature, level, flow instruments, and final control elements.
Functional Testing & Interlock Verification – Validate logic sequences, alarms, and safety interlocks in coordination with DCS/ESD systems.
Advanced Troubleshooting – Diagnose and resolve wiring errors, grounding issues, and instrument signal faults in complex loop systems.
Team Supervision & Documentation – Lead a team of loop technicians, maintain loop folders, redline drawings, and ensure QA/QC compliance.
Control System Integration – Coordinate directly with DCS/PLC engineers to ensure proper configuration and system response during testing.
Execute and oversee loop testing for all instrument types from field devices to control system I/O.
Interpret and validate I/O lists, loop drawings, P&IDs, and logic diagrams for accurate loop execution.
Use HART communicators, loop calibrators, and multifunction testers to simulate and verify signals.
Supervise and guide junior technicians during loop execution, punch list resolution, and handover preparation.
Identify control logic mismatches and contribute to cause & effect testing and shutdown system validations.
Ensure proper completion of test documentation, loop folders, and turnover packages for commissioning sign-off.
Enforce strict adherence to project safety and permit-to-work systems.
Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
7–10 years of loop testing and commissioning experience in large-scale industrial or energy projects.
Proficient in control systems (e.g., Siemens, Yokogawa, Honeywell, ABB, Emerson DeltaV).
Strong knowledge of IEC/ISA standards, commissioning methodologies, and functional safety systems.
Expert-level use of loop testing equipment and configuration tools.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and team coordination skills.
Excellent communication and reporting ability.
High problem-solving and decision-making ability under commissioning conditions.
Deep understanding of process safety and control system interactions.
