The Junior Loop Check and Control Technician assists in the verification, troubleshooting, and documentation of control loops within process automation systems. This role is entry-level and supports the commissioning and start-up phase by ensuring instrument loops are installed, connected, and functioning as per control logic and design specifications.
Loop Checking Support
Assist in conducting field loop checks between field devices (sensors, transmitters, actuators) and control systems (PLC/DCS).
Verify correct signal transmission (4–20 mA, digital, etc.) from field to control room.
Instrument Identification & Verification
Cross-check instrument tag numbers, wiring, and terminal connections as per loop diagrams and P&IDs.
Report mismatches or installation errors to the senior technician or supervisor.
Basic Troubleshooting
Identify common loop faults such as open circuits, signal losses, or grounding issues under supervision.
Replace or reconnect faulty wiring and assist in basic device adjustments.
Documentation & Reporting
Fill out loop check sheets, test reports, and punch lists accurately.
Update as-built documentation after loop modifications or corrections.
Safety & Compliance
Follow safety protocols when working in live process zones and electrical panels.
Adhere to commissioning and QA/QC standards, especially in GMP or regulated environments.
Learning & Development
Gain familiarity with different types of instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level).
Understand control system basics (PLC/DCS I/O mapping, signal conditioning).
Education:
ITI/Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in instrumentation or loop testing activities; fresher candidates with relevant training may be considered.
Skills:
Basic understanding of loop diagrams, control system wiring, and instrumentation.
Willingness to learn on-site procedures and work under supervision in field conditions.
