Job Title: Line Mechanic – Conveyors, Motors, Pumps

Job Summary:

The Junior Line Mechanic supports the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of conveyor systems, motors, pumps, and related mechanical equipment. Working under supervision, this role assists in troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring reliable operation of material handling equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Routine Maintenance & Support

• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, inspection, and adjustment of conveyors, motors, and pumps.

• Replace basic mechanical components like belts, bearings, seals, and couplings under guidance.

• Support daily equipment checks and report any irregularities to senior mechanics or supervisors.

Basic Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Perform basic mechanical repairs on conveyor and pump equipment under supervision.

• Help respond to equipment breakdowns by assisting senior mechanics.

• Learn to read equipment manuals and basic mechanical drawings.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety protocols during all maintenance activities.

• Maintain clean and safe work areas in compliance with company safety standards.

• Participate in safety training and adhere to all workplace safety regulations.

Documentation & Communication

• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used accurately.

• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors about equipment status.

• Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Technical training or vocational coursework in mechanical maintenance or related field preferred

Experience:

• 0–2 years of mechanical maintenance experience or internships/co-ops preferred

• Basic hands-on experience with conveyors, motors, or pumps is a plus

Technical Skills:

• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools

• Willingness to learn mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance tasks

• Understanding of safety practices and LOTO procedures

Soft Skills:

• Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions

• Good communication and teamwork skills
