Job Summary:

The Senior Lifting / Rigging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all rigging and lifting operations on-site, ensuring adherence to safety standards, technical specifications, and project timelines. This role includes planning complex lifts, managing rigging teams, and ensuring the proper use and maintenance of lifting equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and supervise complex lifting operations and critical lifts.

  • Review and approve lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements.

  • Lead and coordinate the rigging team, including mid-level technicians and helpers.

  • Conduct site assessments to determine rigging requirements and equipment selection.

  • Ensure all lifting activities comply with local and international safety standards.

  • Communicate with crane operators, site engineers, and safety officers to coordinate lifts.

  • Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks before lifting operations.

  • Monitor rigging team performance and ensure continual adherence to safety procedures.

  • Inspect and certify lifting tools and gear; coordinate third-party inspections as needed.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and ensure skill development.


Requirements:

  • Diploma or technical degree in Mechanical, Civil, or related field.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in rigging and lifting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Advanced knowledge of rigging principles, load charts, critical lift planning, and risk management.

  • Proven experience in managing heavy lifts using cranes, hydraulic jacks, and other equipment.

  • Proficient in interpreting lifting drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.


Certifications & Licenses:

  • Valid Lifting/Rigging Supervisor certification (e.g., LEEA, NCCCO, or equivalent).

  • HSE certifications such as OSHA 30, NEBOSH, or equivalent are highly preferred.

  • Crane Operator Signalman Certification (optional but preferred).
