The Mid-Level Lifting / Rigging Technician is responsible for executing lifting and rigging operations in compliance with safety standards and site requirements. This role involves interpreting lifting plans, operating lifting gear, and supervising helpers during operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
Execute rigging and lifting operations as per site plans and supervisor instructions.
Select and inspect appropriate lifting equipment (slings, shackles, spreader bars, etc.) for each task.
Ensure proper attachment and balance of loads during lifting operations.
Interpret lifting drawings and method statements.
Communicate effectively with crane operators using standard hand or radio signals.
Supervise and guide junior rigging helpers during lifting tasks.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of rigging gear and lifting tools.
Enforce adherence to safety regulations and report potential hazards.
Coordinate with supervisors and crane operators to ensure safe movement of materials.
Technical diploma or relevant vocational training.
3–5 years of experience in rigging and lifting operations in construction or industrial environments.
Solid knowledge of rigging principles, load calculations, and lifting gear inspection.
Ability to read lifting plans, method statements, and safety procedures.
Familiar with national and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, LEEA).
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Physically capable of manual handling and working in demanding environments.
Valid rigging certification (e.g., LEEA, NCCCO, or equivalent).
Training in confined space entry, working at heights, or crane signaling.
Experience working on oil & gas, heavy industrial, or high-rise projects.
