We are seeking an entry-level Junior Leak Detection Technician to assist with the monitoring, inspection, and basic assessment of valve systems and piping for leaks within water treatment and distribution infrastructure. This role involves learning to operate leak detection tools, supporting valve condition assessments, and ensuring early identification of issues that could impact water system integrity.
Leak Detection Support
Assist in the use of acoustic leak detection equipment, ground microphones, and correlators to detect leaks near valves and underground pipelines.
Conduct basic field inspections around valves, hydrants, and distribution appurtenances.
Support senior technicians during targeted leak surveys and reactive investigations.
Valve Monitoring & Reporting
Record findings related to valve condition, audible leak signs, pressure inconsistencies, or visual indicators of seepage.
Mark locations and assist in documenting potential leaks for repair prioritization.
Learn to interpret leak patterns and recognize early signs of valve seal or flange failure.
Field Operations Assistance
Prepare tools and equipment for leak detection field work.
Support traffic control setup and maintain safe working areas around valves and streets.
Assist with minor tasks during valve isolations or maintenance as directed.
Safety & Learning
Follow standard safety procedures during confined space, roadside, and pressurized system activities.
Participate in training on leak detection techniques, valve system layouts, and field data collection tools.
Engage with senior staff to develop technical knowledge of valve-related leak dynamics.
Supporting leak detection surveys and inspections
Learning and applying leak detection tools and techniques
Contributing to valve condition reporting
Ensuring safe and accurate field operations
