The Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing is responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems, components, and processes used in production. This role bridges design and manufacturing by developing engineering solutions that improve product quality, reduce costs, and enhance process efficiency. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams—including production, quality, tooling, and maintenance—to implement engineering best practices and support the scaling of operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and improve mechanical components, tooling, and production equipment using CAD software
Conduct engineering analyses (stress, thermal, tolerance stack-ups) to validate mechanical designs
Develop and implement solutions to manufacturing challenges related to mechanical fit, function, and reliability
Support root cause analysis for mechanical failures and develop corrective/preventive actions
Lead continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing efficiency, ergonomics, and cost savings
Collaborate with suppliers on component design, manufacturability reviews, and specification development
Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including technical drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
Assist in training operators and technicians on new equipment, processes, and engineering changes
Key Focus Areas:
Mechanical design for manufacturability and production optimization
CAD modeling and engineering analysis of systems and components
Cross-functional collaboration on quality, process, and cost improvements
Implementation of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices
Support of tooling design, prototyping, and process validation
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field required
Experience:
3–6 years of experience in mechanical engineering within a manufacturing environment
Technical Skills:
Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) and 2D drafting
Strong understanding of GD&T, materials, and manufacturing processes (CNC, welding, molding, etc.)
Experience with FMEA, DFM/DFA, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Familiar with ERP systems, BOM management, and engineering change control
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally
Attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
