We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for the design, selection, configuration, and maintenance support of instrumentation and control systems. This role provides technical leadership across projects and plant operations, ensuring reliable and accurate measurement, control, and safety systems. The engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, process, mechanical, and automation specialists.
Develop and review engineering deliverables: P&IDs, instrument index, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, I/O lists, and datasheets.
Specify and select field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers) based on process requirements and standards.
Ensure proper integration with DCS, PLC, ESD, and SCADA systems.
Provide technical support during all project phases – FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning.
Coordinate with vendors and EPC contractors for instrumentation packages, documentation, and compliance reviews.
Participate in factory/site acceptance testing and ensure correct implementation at site.
Guide field teams in calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of instruments.
Develop maintenance strategies to improve reliability and reduce instrument failures.
Review instrument failure reports and lead root cause analysis for recurring issues.
Participate in SIL classification, verification, and implementation of safety instrumented functions.
Design and validate instrument loops related to critical safety applications (ESD, F&G, relief systems).
Ensure compliance with functional safety standards (IEC 61511/ISA 84).
Ensure that all instrumentation engineering deliverables comply with QA/QC, project specifications, and international codes (ISA, IEC, API).
Prepare technical documentation for handover, audits, and operational readiness.
Maintain up-to-date instrument records and revision-controlled drawings.
Liaise with operations, process, and control system teams to optimize plant instrumentation.
Support junior engineers by providing technical guidance and reviewing their work.
Engage in knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong expertise in field instruments, control systems, and loop design.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus.
Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, and control philosophies.
Hands-on experience with DCS/PLC/SCADA systems from major OEMs (Siemens, Honeywell, Emerson, ABB, Yokogawa, etc.).
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
7–12 years of relevant experience in instrumentation engineering, maintenance, or project execution.
Experience in industrial facilities such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, power, or pharmaceuticals.
Knowledge of standards (ISA, IEC, API) and functional safety practices.
Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), CMMS, or calibration software is an advantage.
