The Mid-Level Instrument Lab Technician supports the smooth functioning of laboratory operations by performing routine and moderately complex maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments. This role bridges foundational technician duties and senior-level responsibilities, with growing autonomy and accountability.
Routine Instrument Maintenance & Calibration
Conduct periodic calibration and preventive maintenance of lab instruments (e.g., balances, pH meters, conductivity meters, UV-Vis spectrometers).
Maintain calibration records in compliance with internal SOPs and external standards.
Troubleshooting and Minor Repairs
Diagnose and resolve basic to intermediate-level issues in instrument functionality.
Coordinate with senior technicians or vendors for complex repairs.
Documentation & Compliance
Accurately document all service, calibration, and maintenance activities.
Ensure adherence to quality systems such as GMP, GLP, or ISO protocols.
Equipment Installation Support
Assist in installation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) processes for new lab equipment.
Verify instrument readiness before handover to lab users.
Inventory & Spare Part Management
Monitor and manage spare parts, calibration standards, and consumables inventory.
Raise requisitions for parts or services as needed.
Support for Audits & Inspections
Prepare calibration certificates, maintenance logs, and instrument history files.
Assist QA and lab personnel during internal/external audits.
Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
Work closely with lab analysts, QA teams, and engineering staff.
Provide guidance to junior technicians and interns on daily tasks and safety protocols.
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical fields.
Experience:
2–5 years of hands-on experience with laboratory instruments in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, or analytical labs.
Skills:
Proficient with common lab instruments and maintenance practices.
Familiarity with documentation standards and calibration software/tools.
Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
