Roles & Responsibilities

The Fresher Instrument Lab Technician role is an entry-level position designed for recent graduates or diploma holders aiming to build foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in laboratory instrumentation. The technician will assist in operating, maintaining, and learning about various lab instruments under supervision, while following regulatory and safety standards.


Key Focus Areas:

  1. Instrument Familiarization and Handling

    • Learn to operate basic lab instruments (e.g., pH meters, balances, centrifuges, conductivity meters).

    • Assist in preparing instruments for routine lab tasks and simple measurements.

  2. Supportive Maintenance Tasks

    • Observe and assist with preventive maintenance activities performed by senior staff.

    • Clean and organize instruments and workspaces after use.

  3. Training and Learning

    • Participate in structured training on GMP/GLP standards, calibration procedures, SOPs, and lab safety.

    • Shadow senior technicians to understand lab workflows and documentation practices.

  4. Basic Troubleshooting Assistance

    • Identify and report minor issues like leaks, display errors, or power issues to supervisors.

    • Assist in replacing consumables or accessories under guidance.

  5. Documentation & Compliance Support

    • Record equipment usage and maintenance details as instructed.

    • Ensure adherence to safety rules and lab hygiene protocols.

  6. Inventory and Reagent Preparation Help

    • Assist in tracking inventory of lab consumables and accessories.

    • Help in preparing standard solutions and cleaning equipment.

  7. Team Collaboration

    • Work cooperatively with lab analysts, QA teams, and instrumentation staff to support overall lab efficiency.

    • Follow instructions precisely to ensure accuracy and compliance.


Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Applied Sciences, or related fields.

  • Experience:

    • 0–1 year of experience (including academic labs, internships, or apprenticeships).

  • Skills:

    • Basic understanding of lab instruments and safety practices.

    • Good communication skills and willingness to learn.

    • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
