Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Instrument Cable Tray Installer is responsible for independently installing and supporting the layout, alignment, and secure fixing of cable trays for instrumentation and control systems. The role requires strong practical skills, ability to interpret construction drawings, and compliance with installation standards and safety regulations on industrial sites.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Tray System Installation – Independently install ladder-type, perforated, or solid-bottom cable trays as per project drawings.

  • Layout & Routing Execution – Accurately mark, level, and align cable tray runs based on site layout, isometric drawings, or general arrangement plans.

  • Support Structures & Bracketing – Install support hangers, cantilever arms, and brackets for vertical and horizontal tray routing.

  • Tool & Equipment Handling – Operate hand and power tools (cutters, grinders, drills) for on-site fabrication and installation tasks.

  • Safety & Quality Compliance – Follow all work permits, PPE, and safety protocols in line with site HSE policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and follow cable tray layout drawings, BOQs, and installation guides with minimal supervision.

  • Measure and cut cable trays and covers to required lengths using proper tools.

  • Fix and secure trays on supports at heights, in cable trenches, and through cable risers or ducts.

  • Ensure proper spacing, alignment, and separation for signal, power, and control cables as per project specs.

  • Inspect tray installation for level, support intervals, and conformance with design standards.

  • Provide guidance and on-the-job support to junior installers or helpers.

  • Maintain records of completed work and material usage; report progress to supervisors.


Qualifications:

  • Technical Diploma or Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation Trades.

  • 3–6 years of hands-on experience in industrial cable tray installation for instrumentation and control systems.

  • Familiarity with project execution standards in oil & gas, power plants, or industrial infrastructure.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in using measuring instruments, levels, drills, and mounting tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and layout schematics.

  • Solid understanding of clearance, tray load support spacing, and grounding practices.

  • Strong focus on safety, work quality, and schedule adherence.

  • Good team coordination and communication with site supervisors and engineers.
