The Junior Inspection Engineer – Boilers is responsible for assisting in the inspection, evaluation, and documentation of boilers and pressure vessels to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role supports visual, non-destructive testing (NDT), and fitness-for-service assessments in accordance with API 510, NBIC, and relevant jurisdictional codes.
Assist in conducting routine and scheduled inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, and associated systems.
Support API 510 and NBIC-compliant inspections under the supervision of certified inspectors.
Collect field data, thickness measurements, corrosion readings, and visual inspection findings.
Help perform or coordinate NDT methods (UT, PT, MT, VT) in support of inspection programs.
Document inspection results, prepare preliminary condition reports, and maintain digital inspection logs.
Assist with repair recommendations, documentation for alterations, rerates, or re-certifications.
Work with maintenance teams to monitor repairs, replacements, and hydrostatic testing activities.
Stay updated on ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), API, and NBIC requirements.
Learn and apply asset integrity principles, inspection planning, and risk-based inspection (RBI) basics.
Participate in training on inspection software, data management tools, and integrity programs.
Regulatory Inspection Support
Aid in compliance with API 510, NBIC, and local boiler inspection laws and codes.
Boiler Integrity Monitoring
Support the evaluation of corrosion, erosion, and operational wear affecting pressure boundaries.
Data Collection & Reporting
Record and compile field data, visual assessments, and inspection photos in proper formats.
NDT Coordination
Assist in coordinating NDT services and reviewing basic test results for discrepancies.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
0–2 years of experience in mechanical inspection, preferably in boilers or pressure vessels.
Working knowledge or certification in API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector) or NBIC “IS” endorsement (in progress or recently acquired).
Familiarity with ASME Section I and VIII, NDT methods, and plant safety protocols is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and willingness to work in field conditions.
Basic understanding of inspection tools, UT gauges, borescopes, and corrosion monitoring devices.
