The Senior I&C Supervisor is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the instrumentation and control (I&C) systems essential to the operation, safety, and regulatory compliance of medical laboratory environments. This includes managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring optimal performance of automation and environmental control systems, and maintaining full calibration and documentation compliance with healthcare regulations. The role requires strategic planning, deep technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration with lab operations, quality assurance, and IT/OT infrastructure.
Lead and supervise all activities related to the calibration, maintenance, integration, and troubleshooting of:
Temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors
pH, conductivity, and flow instrumentation
HVAC, BMS, EMS, and SCADA-linked control systems
Environmental and process monitoring systems (e.g., cleanroom conditions, cold chain monitoring)
Manage a team of instrumentation technicians and junior supervisors; oversee workload allocation, technical upskilling, and performance evaluations.
Ensure full regulatory compliance with CAP, CLIA, NABL, ISO 17025, and GMP/GLP standards.
Develop and enforce calibration strategies, preventive maintenance schedules, and alarm response protocols.
Serve as a subject matter expert during internal and external audits; lead deviation investigations and CAPA implementation for I&C-related events.
Coordinate with automation engineers, IT/OT personnel, and lab equipment vendors for system expansions and integration projects.
Review and approve instrumentation documentation, calibration reports, and control system configurations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for system reliability, data integrity, and process automation.
Leadership in Compliance & Audit Readiness
Ensure calibration, maintenance, and environmental monitoring are fully aligned with regulatory standards and audit expectations.
Instrumentation Lifecycle Management
Lead the full lifecycle management of instrumentation assets – from specification and procurement to calibration and decommissioning.
Integrated Systems Oversight
Oversee integration of instruments with BMS, SCADA, and data acquisition systems; ensure alarms, alerts, and trends support 24/7 lab operations.
Team Management & Technical Oversight
Mentor and develop junior I&C staff; conduct technical reviews, assign resources, and manage performance KPIs.
Strategic Infrastructure Planning
Collaborate on facility expansion, retrofits, and new lab commissioning projects with a focus on instrumentation readiness.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Lead root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and optimize processes to reduce downtime and increase data reliability.
