I and C Reliability Analyst – Predictive Maintenance Systems

Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior I&C Reliability Analyst supports the analysis, monitoring, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems using predictive maintenance tools. This role is designed to develop expertise in reliability engineering by assisting in the identification of failure patterns, data collection, and performance analysis to enhance equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Monitoring:
    Assist in the acquisition and organization of operational data from sensors, PLCs, SCADA systems, and condition monitoring tools.

  • Predictive Maintenance Support:
    Support implementation and daily operations of predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, temperature monitoring, and control valve diagnostics.

  • Report Generation:
    Create basic reports and visualizations (e.g., trends, alerts, deviations) to assist senior analysts and maintenance teams in understanding equipment health.

  • Failure Tracking:
    Help track and log failure modes, recurring issues, and performance anomalies in instrumentation and control systems.

  • System Audits:
    Support routine checks of sensor calibration, signal integrity, and health status of critical I&C devices.

  • Communication:
    Coordinate with maintenance, operations, and automation teams to communicate early warnings or failure indications based on predictive alerts.

  • Tool Utilization:
    Learn and use software platforms such as CMMS, historian systems (e.g., OSIsoft PI), and reliability analysis tools under supervision.

  • Documentation:
    Maintain clear and accurate records of analysis, interventions, and outcomes for use in continuous improvement and compliance reporting.


Focus Areas:

  1. Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM):
    Exposure to techniques like vibration monitoring, thermography, ultrasonic testing, and electrical signature analysis.

  2. Sensor Performance Analysis:
    Assist in identifying drift, failure, or degradation in field instruments (e.g., transmitters, flowmeters, control valves).

  3. Data Trend Analysis:
    Basic analysis of real-time and historical data for identifying deviations, thresholds, and emerging issues.

  4. Reliability Metrics Awareness:
    Begin learning how to interpret metrics like MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), and RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) inputs.

  5. Support in Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
    Participate in post-failure investigations to learn how to identify contributing factors and suggest preventative measures.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

  • 0–2 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance or reliability functions (internship/project experience is acceptable).

  • Basic understanding of sensors, control systems, and industrial automation platforms.

  • Familiarity with Excel, CMMS tools, and basic data analysis.

  • Willingness to learn advanced reliability techniques and tools.

  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and willingness to work in industrial field conditions.
