The Senior Hydraulic Turbine Design Engineer leads the design, development, and optimization of hydraulic turbines for hydropower generation and municipal energy recovery applications. This role requires deep expertise in turbine performance analysis, advanced simulation (CFD/FEA), and cross-functional coordination to deliver high-efficiency and reliable turbomachinery systems. The engineer will guide design teams, mentor junior staff, and serve as a key technical authority on hydraulic turbine design and integration.
Lead the end-to-end design of hydraulic turbines (Francis, Kaplan, Pelton, pump-turbines), including runners, guide vanes, volutes, draft tubes, and structural supports.
Oversee 3D modeling, detailing, and tolerancing using advanced CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Inventor).
Direct CFD simulations for flow behavior, cavitation, and head-flow optimization.
Conduct FEA for structural integrity, vibration analysis, and fatigue life assessment.
Validate design through theoretical, computational, and empirical methods.
Ensure successful integration of turbines into broader hydromechanical or water utility systems.
Review and approve design documentation, manufacturing drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
Provide technical oversight during prototyping, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
Drive R&D for performance enhancement, efficiency improvement, and innovative hydraulic profiles.
Contribute to patent filings, technical publications, and conference presentations.
Mentor and supervise junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and design excellence.
Collaborate with electrical, civil, and controls engineers to deliver system-level solutions.
