Job Title: Hospital Automation Specialist

Job Summary:

The Junior Hospital Automation Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, operation, and maintenance of automation systems within healthcare facilities. This role involves independently handling routine tasks, troubleshooting system issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and reliable automation processes. The specialist works closely with senior staff to improve system performance and align automation solutions with hospital needs.

Key Responsibilities:

System Implementation and Configuration:

  • Assist in the setup and configuration of hospital automation systems, including HVAC control, lighting systems, patient monitoring, and workflow management platforms.
  • Ensure proper integration of automation systems with existing hospital infrastructure.
  • Document setup procedures and create user guides for automation systems.

System Monitoring and Maintenance:

  • Perform regular monitoring of automation systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and update software/firmware for automation devices.
  • Identify and resolve minor issues to maintain system reliability and escalate complex issues to senior specialists.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Diagnose and address common system issues using diagnostic tools and logs.
  • Provide on-site technical support to end-users for automation system operations.
  • Record and track incidents, reporting trends to senior staff for further analysis.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure all automation activities comply with hospital policies and relevant industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, ISO 13485).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance schedules, system configurations, and incident reports.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work with clinical, IT, and facilities teams to ensure seamless operation of automation systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment support and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in training end-users on the proper use and functionality of automation systems.

Learning and Development:

  • Enhance knowledge of hospital automation technologies, including IoT devices, building management systems (BMS), and patient monitoring solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices for automation systems in healthcare.
  • Participate in workshops and technical training to improve skills and expertise.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Intermediate understanding of automation technologies, including IoT, building management systems (BMS), and healthcare workflow platforms.
  • Proficiency in basic networking concepts, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software used in automation systems.
  • Awareness of healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA and ISO 13485.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in addressing technical challenges.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams and end-users.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications in automation systems or IT-related technologies are preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in managing or supporting automation systems, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Hands-on experience with system setup, maintenance, or troubleshooting is beneficial.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS), hospital workflow platforms, and IoT devices.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and software for system monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of software platforms for managing automation systems and data logs.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently on routine tasks while collaborating with senior staff on more complex issues.
  • Strong organizational skills to document and maintain records of system configurations and maintenance activities.
