As a Senior Heat Exchanger Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end technical delivery of shell-and-tube, plate-and-frame, and air-cooled heat-exchanger projects. You’ll serve as the subject-matter expert for thermal-hydraulic design, mechanical integrity, and performance optimization, guiding both design and field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation across the asset base.
Technical Leadership & Design Oversight
Drive detailed thermal-hydraulic and mechanical designs using HTRI, Aspen EDR, or equivalent, ensuring fit-for-service solutions.
Approve datasheets, mechanical drawings (GA, nozzle schedules), and vendor deliverables.
Performance Analysis & Optimization
Lead performance evaluations: analyze approach temperatures, pressure drops, fouling factors, and recommend design or operational modifications.
Implement advanced techniques (CFD, FEA) for thermal stress analysis and flow distribution improvement.
Integrity Management & Troubleshooting
Oversee condition-monitoring programs: tube-bundle inspections, vibration analysis, and corrosion mapping.
Spearhead root-cause investigations of failures (leaks, erosion, vibration fatigue), develop corrective action plans, and track closure.
Project & Stakeholder Management
Manage medium-to-large exchanger projects—from front-end engineering through commissioning—ensuring scope, schedule, and budget targets.
Interface with Process, Mechanical, Maintenance, Procurement, and external vendors to align delivery and quality standards.
Standards, Codes & Compliance
Ensure all designs and modifications comply with TEMA, ASME B31.3/BPV, API 660, and local regulations.
Lead Management of Change (MoC) reviews and ensure rigorous document control.
Mentorship & Team Development
Mentor mid- and junior-level engineers: conduct technical reviews, share best practices, and lead internal training sessions.
Contribute to building a knowledge base of lessons learned, standard details, and performance benchmarks.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Identify opportunities to adopt emerging technologies (advanced materials, enhanced cleaning methods, additive manufacturing) to improve exchanger longevity and performance.
Champion Lean/Six-Sigma or reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives targeting heat-exchanger reliability.
Optimize exchanger designs and operational parameters to maximize duty, minimize temperature approach, and support plant throughput targets.
Prioritize high-risk components for inspection, apply advanced materials or design modifications to extend service intervals and prevent unplanned outages.
Leverage performance trends, inspection data, and predictive analytics to proactively schedule cleanings, retubing, or upgrades.
Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of retrofit and greenfield exchanger projects, with minimal impact on operations.
Act as the go-to expert for cross-discipline teams, translating complex thermal-hydraulic concepts into actionable designs and work scopes.
