The HVAC Testing Lab Supervisor (Mid-Level) oversees daily operations in the HVAC testing laboratory, ensuring accurate execution of performance, durability, and environmental tests on HVAC systems and components for automotive applications. This role is responsible for test planning, equipment maintenance, technician coordination, and data integrity. The supervisor ensures test procedures meet internal and regulatory standards while supporting the development of new HVAC technologies for ICE, HEV, and EV platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise HVAC test lab activities including test setup, calibration, execution, and teardown for airflow, thermal performance, NVH, and refrigerant cycle testing.
Coordinate lab technicians, assign tasks, and ensure adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and timelines.
Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC test rigs, environmental chambers, airflow benches, and instrumentation systems.
Review and approve test requests, documentation, and results to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with HVAC engineering teams to develop test methods and validate component/system-level performance.
Train lab personnel on equipment usage, safety protocols, and test standards (SAE, ISO, internal).
Manage consumables, parts inventory, and preventive maintenance schedules for lab infrastructure.
Support test automation and continuous improvement efforts to increase throughput and data reliability.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, HVAC Technology, or related field required
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in HVAC testing, lab supervision, or related thermal system validation role
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of HVAC components and system operation (compressors, evaporators, TXVs, actuators)
Proficient with data acquisition tools (NI LabVIEW, Dewesoft, or equivalent) and sensor calibration
Familiarity with test automation, lab software, and standard procedures (SAE J2765, ISO 5151, etc.)
