The Junior HVAC Technician supports the maintenance, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that control the environment within water treatment plants. This entry-level role assists with routine service tasks, monitors system performance, and learns to ensure plant environmental conditions meet operational and safety standards. Training and development opportunities will be provided.
Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes, coil cleaning, lubrication, and system inspections on HVAC equipment.
Support troubleshooting of HVAC systems including air handlers, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and ventilation controls.
Monitor gauges, thermostats, and control panels to identify performance issues.
Maintain HVAC equipment rooms, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and confined space entry procedures during work.
Record maintenance activities and report faults or system failures promptly.
Participate in training sessions to develop technical HVAC skills and knowledge of plant environmental systems.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors as needed.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
HVAC technical training or certification preferred but not required
Experience:
0–2 years experience in HVAC, mechanical maintenance, or related fields preferred
Skills:
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn HVAC systems
Willingness to work in a team and follow instructions closely
Strong attention to safety and detail
Good communication and documentation skills
