We are seeking a highly experienced and dependable Senior HVAC Technician to lead the maintenance, diagnostics, and optimization of HVAC systems across plant buildings. This role requires advanced technical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence in a dynamic industrial environment. The ideal candidate will oversee HVAC-related projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure critical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Lead and perform complex maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handling units, VFDs, and rooftop units in plant buildings.
Conduct detailed diagnostics and root cause analysis for system malfunctions and recurring HVAC issues.
Supervise and participate in major HVAC overhauls, retrofits, and new equipment commissioning.
Review HVAC design plans and collaborate with engineering teams during system upgrades or plant expansions.
Monitor HVAC system performance to ensure energy efficiency, air quality, and adherence to indoor environmental standards.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of maintenance activities, inspections, compliance, and refrigerant tracking.
Ensure full compliance with safety protocols, EPA regulations, ASHRAE standards, and internal operating procedures.
Mentor and train junior and mid-level HVAC technicians, delegating tasks and overseeing quality control.
Serve as the technical point of contact for HVAC emergencies and coordinate with cross-functional departments for resolution.
System Performance Optimization
Ensure HVAC systems operate at peak efficiency to support critical plant operations and minimize energy consumption.
Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical guidance to junior technicians; foster a culture of continuous learning and safe work practices.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs
Lead response to complex HVAC issues, utilizing advanced tools, instrumentation, and system data.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations, and maintain accurate maintenance records and SOPs.
Project Oversight & Coordination
Support or manage HVAC-related capital projects, retrofits, and facility upgrades in collaboration with plant engineers.
Diploma or degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
6+ years of progressive experience in HVAC system maintenance, ideally in industrial or plant settings.
Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, ducts, VAVs, and controls.
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) such as Siemens, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls.
Excellent troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and mechanical/electrical repair skills.
Proficient in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Strong communication, planning, and leadership abilities.
Proficient with CMMS platforms for scheduling, logging, and reporting maintenance tasks.
EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal required)
OSHA 10 or 30 (preferred)
Additional HVAC or mechanical certifications (preferred)
Industrial plant environment, involving physical activity, elevated work areas, confined spaces, and temperature fluctuations.
May include shift work, on-call rotations, and emergency response duties based on plant needs.
