The Mid-Level HVAC Supervisor is responsible for supervising the operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems across the water utility plant. This includes managing a team of HVAC technicians, ensuring system performance, and supporting the plant’s environmental and operational reliability. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, building automation, and regulatory compliance in an industrial utility setting.
Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance and repair of HVAC systems including chillers, air handlers, pumps, ducts, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, and climate control systems.
Ensure optimal operation of environmental systems in critical areas such as control rooms, laboratories, pump stations, and electrical/mechanical rooms.
Monitor HVAC system performance using Building Automation Systems (BAS) or SCADA-linked interfaces, and respond to alerts and system anomalies.
Lead HVAC technicians in preventive maintenance and repair activities while ensuring safety and compliance.
Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and engineering staff for HVAC upgrades, installations, and retrofits.
Maintain documentation for inspections, service records, compliance checks, and performance reports.
Ensure that HVAC systems meet energy efficiency standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and applicable codes.
Identify opportunities to improve system performance and reduce energy consumption.
Manage inventory of HVAC tools, consumables, and replacement parts.
Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
HVAC System Performance & Reliability
Ensuring continuous, efficient operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems critical to plant operations.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Management
Executing and refining maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
Building Automation System (BAS) Oversight
Using BAS platforms for real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and system optimization.
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervising a team of junior and entry-level HVAC technicians, providing training and mentoring.
Regulatory and Safety Compliance
Enforcing safety procedures and HVAC-related compliance with local/state regulations and internal SOPs.
Energy Optimization
Supporting energy-saving initiatives and HVAC system upgrades for operational cost control.
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in HVAC Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
5–8 years of HVAC experience in an industrial or utility environment, including supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, control logic, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and EPA refrigerant management requirements.
Experience with BAS/BMS platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls).
Valid HVAC license and EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
