The Junior HVAC Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the oversight and daily coordination of HVAC system operations within a water utility plant environment. This role supports the implementation of maintenance schedules, ensures HVAC equipment reliability, and provides hands-on technical supervision for junior technicians. The role focuses on maintaining climate control systems, including air handling units, chillers, ventilation fans, ducting, and controls that support critical operations in treatment facilities, control rooms, laboratories, and utility spaces.
Assist in supervising the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems across the water utility plant, including cooling towers, air handling units, chillers, split systems, and exhaust systems.
Support routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of HVAC assets.
Maintain temperature and humidity requirements in sensitive operational zones such as pump control rooms, SCADA server rooms, and laboratory areas.
Troubleshoot HVAC issues and escalate complex technical problems to senior personnel as needed.
Coordinate with HVAC technicians and contractors to schedule tasks and ensure work is carried out in compliance with plant safety protocols and procedures.
Review work orders and service reports to verify completed repairs and document equipment performance.
Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and tools related to HVAC system support.
Monitor HVAC performance via BAS (Building Automation System) and report system anomalies.
Enforce safety policies and environmental standards while performing or supervising HVAC work.
Participate in energy conservation efforts and suggest improvements for HVAC efficiency.
HVAC System Reliability Support
Ensure uninterrupted HVAC operations to maintain regulated environmental conditions essential for plant safety and water treatment efficiency.
Preventive Maintenance Coordination
Assist in planning and execution of preventive maintenance schedules to avoid unplanned downtimes.
Technical Oversight and Supervision
Supervise entry-level HVAC technicians and assist in technical guidance under the mentorship of senior supervisors.
Compliance and Safety Monitoring
Ensure HVAC work is performed in compliance with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and internal SOPs.
Energy and Operational Efficiency
Support implementation of practices that optimize HVAC energy usage and operational effectiveness.
Diploma or Associate’s Degree in HVAC Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
2–4 years of hands-on HVAC maintenance experience, preferably in an industrial, plant, or utility environment.
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control aspects of HVAC systems.
Familiarity with BMS/BAS platforms and HVAC diagnostic tools.
EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) preferred.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Willingness to learn plant systems, codes, and utility-specific operational procedures.
