We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level HVAC Design Engineer with proven experience designing systems for GMP-regulated and cleanroom-controlled environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC fundamentals, cleanroom classifications, and the regulatory requirements for temperature, humidity, and contamination control in life sciences or advanced tech manufacturing facilities. You will play a key role in the design and coordination of HVAC systems that ensure environmental compliance, product integrity, and operational efficiency.
Design HVAC systems for cleanrooms, laboratories, manufacturing suites, and other GMP-controlled spaces in compliance with ISO 14644, FDA, EU GMP, and ASHRAE standards.
Conduct HVAC load calculations, ductwork and piping layout, and airflow balancing with respect to cleanliness levels, temperature, humidity, and pressure cascade requirements.
Develop engineering drawings, control schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software.
Prepare equipment schedules and technical specifications for AHUs, terminal HEPA filters, exhaust systems, chillers, and humidity control units.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, architectural, electrical, controls, validation) to align HVAC design with facility and process needs.
Support the development of control sequences and assist in commissioning and validation activities (e.g., DQ, IQ, OQ).
Review vendor submittals and ensure HVAC system components meet design and GMP requirements.
Participate in client meetings, site inspections, and FAT/SAT processes as needed.
Cleanroom HVAC Design:
Design for ISO 5–8 environments, focusing on airflow patterns, pressure zoning, filtration, and air change rates.
GMP Compliance & Documentation:
Understand and implement cGMP and regulatory requirements into system design and documentation.
Systems Integration:
Coordinate HVAC system design with process requirements and building automation systems (BAS/BMS).
Technical Detailing & CAD Modeling:
Produce accurate and efficient layouts and detail drawings that reflect project needs and cleanroom protocols.
Project Coordination & Field Support:
Engage in multi-disciplinary coordination and support during installation, commissioning, and validation stages.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
3–6 years of experience in HVAC design, with at least 2 years in GMP/cleanroom environments.
Proficient with HVAC design tools such as HAP, TRACE 700, and BIM software (Revit, AutoCAD).
Working knowledge of cleanroom classifications (ISO 14644), ASHRAE standards, and GMP guidelines.
Strong understanding of air distribution design, airflow visualization, and contamination control.
Good written and verbal communication skills for working with technical teams and clients.
Ability to manage time, deliverables, and documentation for multiple projects.
