The Senior HVAC Controls & Actuator Engineer is a technical leader responsible for driving the design, development, and validation of advanced control algorithms and actuator systems for automotive HVAC applications. This role oversees complex control strategy implementation, leads system integration and troubleshooting, and ensures robust performance across multiple vehicle platforms. The senior engineer collaborates extensively with cross-functional teams, influences technical direction, mentors engineering staff, and supports innovation in HVAC control technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and optimization of sophisticated control algorithms for HVAC actuators such as blend doors, recirculation flaps, compressors, and variable speed fans.
Oversee the integration, calibration, and validation of sensors, actuators, and control modules in both lab and vehicle environments.
Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex control system issues, proposing effective solutions to improve system robustness and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate closely with software, hardware, mechanical, and vehicle integration teams to align control strategies with overall HVAC system requirements and vehicle architectures.
Provide technical leadership in the development of calibration tools, test plans, and validation procedures.
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Participate in strategic planning and technology scouting to advance HVAC control methodologies and actuator technologies.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, automotive regulations, and company quality processes.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field required
Experience:
7+ years of experience in HVAC controls, actuator systems, embedded software, or automotive thermal management
Proven experience leading technical projects and cross-disciplinary teams
Technical Skills:
Expert knowledge of control algorithms, actuator dynamics, and embedded calibration tools
Extensive experience with HVAC actuator systems, sensor integration, and ECU software platforms
Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills for complex control systems
