We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Junior HVAC Controls Technician to support the setup, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of DDC (Direct Digital Control) systems integrated with BMS and SCADA platforms. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals beginning a career in HVAC automation, combining knowledge of HVAC equipment with foundational experience in control systems and industrial monitoring tools.
Control System Support
Assist in the installation, wiring, and commissioning of HVAC control devices including sensors, actuators, relays, VFDs, and controllers.
Support basic programming and setup of DDC controllers (e.g., Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Tridium/Niagara).
Monitor control panels and HMI interfaces for HVAC system alarms and status updates.
BMS/SCADA Integration Assistance
Help with integrating HVAC components into Building Management Systems (BMS) and SCADA platforms under senior guidance.
Learn to map I/O points and configure graphics for system dashboards.
Assist in verifying that HVAC system parameters (temperature, pressure, flow, humidity) are being correctly read and logged.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
Support troubleshooting of faulty sensors, communication issues (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LON), and actuator malfunctions.
Learn to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, testers, and laptop-based software for identifying basic faults.
Document observations and escalate unresolved issues to senior technicians or controls engineers.
Preventive Maintenance & Calibration
Assist in routine checks and calibrations of field devices including temperature sensors, pressure transducers, and control valves.
Participate in preventive maintenance tasks as part of system health management.
Help ensure equipment is labeled, logged, and compliant with documentation standards.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily logs of system performance, fault events, and corrective actions.
Help update control wiring diagrams, device lists, and I/O schedules.
Support documentation for compliance with HVAC control standards and audit preparation.
Learning & Development
Participate in structured training related to HVAC controls, BAS protocols, and energy management principles.
Gain exposure to HVAC system operation, automation logic, and plant operational workflows.
Work closely with senior controls technicians and engineers to build knowledge of system architecture and network protocols.
