The General Manager – Construction is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, strategy, and performance of the construction division. This includes managing multiple projects, ensuring quality and safety standards, controlling budgets, and leading multidisciplinary teams. The GM plays a critical leadership role in driving project success, client satisfaction, and business growth within the construction segment.
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of all construction projects within the organization.
Define strategic goals and operational frameworks for the construction division.
Oversee project budgets, timelines, resource allocation, and profitability.
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Monitor project performance and implement continuous improvement strategies.
Lead, mentor, and develop senior project managers, engineers, and site teams.
Participate in contract negotiation, project bidding, and risk assessment processes.
Report regularly to executive leadership on KPIs, project status, and financial performance.
Drive business development efforts and contribute to expansion in new markets.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
Minimum 15 years of experience in construction, including at least 5–7 years in senior leadership roles.
Proven track record in managing large-scale construction projects and teams.
Strong financial and commercial acumen, including P&L responsibility.
Deep knowledge of construction laws, codes, safety standards, and modern building technologies.
Exceptional leadership and people management skills.
Strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into actionable plans.
Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Proficiency with project management tools (Primavera, MS Project, ERP systems).
