The Junior Gas Turbine Technician supports the maintenance, inspection, and basic repair of gas turbine units and associated auxiliary systems. The role provides hands-on learning opportunities under the supervision of senior technicians or supervisors and is crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of turbine operations.
Assist in routine maintenance tasks on gas turbines including filter replacement, oil flushing, valve servicing, and component cleaning.
Support disassembly and reassembly activities during inspections, outages, and scheduled maintenance.
Perform basic measurements such as clearance checks, torqueing, and alignment under supervision.
Handle, clean, and prepare turbine components for inspection or reinstallation.
Follow all work procedures, safety protocols, and permit-to-work requirements.
Ensure tools and equipment are used properly and stored safely after use.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area and turbine components during maintenance.
Support the setup and removal of rigging, scaffolding, and lifting devices for component handling.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and on-the-job technical training.
Perform basic mechanical work under supervision with a focus on learning turbine-specific practices.
Gain exposure to gas turbine structure, auxiliaries, and safety systems.
Develop knowledge in gas turbine components like combustion chambers, rotors, vanes, and bearings.
Learn to read mechanical drawings and understand OEM work instructions.
Understand and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and confined space procedures.
Support safety culture through hazard observation and safe behavior.
Practice safe and correct use of hand tools, lifting gear, and measuring instruments.
Support preparation of parts and materials needed for turbine maintenance activities.
Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field
Experience: 0–2 years in mechanical maintenance (gas turbine experience preferred but not required)
Preferred Industry Exposure: Power Plants, Oil & Gas, Industrial Facilities
Basic mechanical skills and interest in rotating equipment
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Ability to work in high-temperature, noisy, and confined environments
Team player with attention to detail and a safety-first attitude
Good physical fitness and readiness to work in the field
