We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Fire Protection / Smoke Control Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of fire protection and smoke control systems integrated with HVAC infrastructure in power plant facilities. This role is ideal for early-career professionals interested in gaining experience at the intersection of mechanical systems and fire safety compliance in high-reliability industrial environments.
Assist in the development and review of fire protection and smoke control system layouts integrated with HVAC ducts, dampers, and ventilation paths.
Coordinate with HVAC, electrical, and civil teams to ensure seamless integration of fire safety elements.
Help evaluate mechanical system designs for compliance with fire safety codes and power plant standards.
Support routine inspections, testing, and commissioning of fire protection components such as smoke dampers, fire-rated ducting, sensors, and actuators.
Assist in system troubleshooting and reporting of non-conformities or maintenance needs.
Participate in smoke control performance testing and airflow direction checks during drills or audits.
Ensure adherence to NFPA, ASHRAE, local fire codes, and internal power plant fire protection standards.
Help maintain accurate records of inspections, test reports, drawings, and system performance logs.
Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory audits and internal safety reviews.
Work alongside senior fire protection engineers during HVAC system upgrades or new installations.
Aid in preparing design documents and system interface details during project planning.
Participate in technical evaluations for new components (e.g., fire dampers, smoke detectors).
Engage in learning programs related to fire safety engineering, HVAC interface codes, and emergency systems.
Develop understanding of CFD smoke modeling basics, airflow management, and control logic for smoke extraction.
Stay current with emerging technologies and standards in fire protection and mechanical safety.
Assist in fire protection and smoke control system layout and inspection
Support HVAC/fire safety integration efforts
Document inspection and compliance activities
Develop expertise in fire safety regulations and control systems
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, HVAC Technology, or related technical field
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in fire protection, HVAC, or mechanical systems—internships or project experience in fire/HVAC integration preferred
Skills:
Basic understanding of HVAC system operation and fire protection principles
Familiarity with relevant codes (NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC, local fire codes)
Ability to read mechanical/fire system schematics and layout drawings
Detail-oriented with strong communication and teamwork abilities
Eagerness to learn advanced fire safety and smoke control concepts
