We are seeking a Mid-Level Failure Analysis Engineer with strong technical expertise in investigating industrial valve failures and conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA). This role is critical in identifying failure mechanisms in control valves, safety valves, isolation valves, and actuators used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications. You will work closely with reliability, maintenance, and design teams to support plant uptime, safety, and continuous improvement.
Conduct detailed failure analysis of valves and valve components—including stem, trim, body, seal, and actuator mechanisms.
Lead and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations using tools such as 5 Whys, FMEA, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and Fault Tree Analysis.
Collaborate with laboratory teams for metallurgical and material analysis (SEM/EDS, hardness testing, PMI, microstructure).
Document findings in comprehensive failure investigation reports with corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Identify degradation modes: corrosion, erosion, cavitation, thermal fatigue, wear, and mechanical overload.
Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve repeated valve issues and recommend design or process changes.
Participate in reliability programs including bad actor elimination, asset performance monitoring, and RCM/FMEA initiatives.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards including API, ASME, NACE, and ASTM.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related field.
3–7 years of experience in failure analysis, mechanical reliability, or valve engineering.
Solid knowledge of valve types (control, gate, globe, ball, check, relief valves) and common failure modes.
Hands-on experience with RCA tools and structured problem-solving methods.
Familiarity with industrial testing methods (NDT, PMI, SEM, hardness, etc.).
Experience in oil & gas, power generation, chemical processing, or similar industries.
Working knowledge of smart valve diagnostics and actuator behavior.
Exposure to reliability software (e.g., Meridium, SAP PM, Reliasoft).
Training or certification in RCA, RCM, FMEA, or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).
Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
Excellent technical report writing and documentation
Detail-oriented with investigative mindset
Strong collaboration and communication abilities
Commitment to safety, quality, and reliability
Office and lab-based with occasional field/site visits for inspections and failure assessments.
May require travel to plants, workshops, or vendor locations.
