We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Fabrication Technician to lead the fabrication of aerospace-grade metal components. This position requires expert knowledge in precision metalworking, fabrication standards, and quality control processes used in the aerospace industry. The ideal candidate will take a hands-on leadership role, mentoring junior technicians while ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality, and production efficiency.
Lead the fabrication of complex aerospace metal parts including cutting, forming, bending, TIG welding, and finishing operations.
Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
Operate and maintain a wide range of fabrication equipment including press brakes, shears, CNC punch presses, saws, grinders, and drill presses.
Perform high-precision welding (TIG preferred) and mechanical assembly in accordance with aerospace standards.
Ensure all parts meet strict dimensional tolerances and quality standards through in-process inspections using precision measurement tools.
Provide technical guidance and training to junior fabrication technicians.
Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve fabrication issues, support first article inspections (FAIs), and recommend process improvements.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, material usage, and inspection data in compliance with AS9100 or ISO standards.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing practices and 5S implementation.
Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, material traceability, and cleanliness standards in a high-compliance environment.
Expert-Level Fabrication: Mastery in aerospace metal fabrication, welding, forming, and assembly processes.
Leadership & Mentoring: Lead by example and provide hands-on training and support to junior staff.
Precision & Quality: Ensure all fabricated components meet stringent aerospace tolerances and inspection criteria.
Problem Solving & Process Optimization: Proactively address production issues and drive fabrication process improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality, and production planning teams to meet delivery schedules and compliance goals.
Documentation & Compliance: Ensure full traceability and documentation of fabrication processes in line with AS9100/ISO standards.
Technical diploma or trade certification in metal fabrication, welding, or aerospace manufacturing.
5+ years of hands-on experience in aerospace or high-precision metal fabrication.
Proficient in TIG welding, sheet metal fabrication, and the use of fabrication machinery.
Advanced ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace fabrication standards.
Strong working knowledge of aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel) and industry requirements (e.g., AS9100).
Experience with FAI, SPC, and non-conformance resolution preferred.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
