The Fabrication Technician (Mid-Level) is responsible for independently performing metal fabrication tasks, including cutting, welding, forming, and assembling components per engineering drawings and quality standards. This role supports production and prototype development through precise fabrication using manual and automated equipment. The technician ensures accuracy, safety, and productivity while collaborating with engineers, machinists, and other team members on manufacturing objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret and fabricate parts based on mechanical drawings, schematics, and verbal instructions.
Operate fabrication equipment including press brakes, shears, MIG/TIG welders, grinders, and CNC tools.
Perform accurate layout, measurement, and alignment of metal parts using calipers, micrometers, and squares.
Conduct welding operations with a focus on clean, strong welds that meet production or prototype standards.
Modify and fit parts to ensure mechanical compatibility and function.
Assist in developing jigs, fixtures, and custom tooling for repeatable fabrication processes.
Perform basic quality inspections and contribute to root cause analysis on fabrication issues.
Follow safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certification or associate degree in Welding, Fabrication, or Manufacturing Technology preferred
Experience:
2–5 years of hands-on fabrication experience in a manufacturing, metalworking, or industrial environment
Experience with both manual and CNC fabrication equipment preferred
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG welding and metal forming techniques
Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T
Skilled in using fabrication tools and measuring equipment
Basic knowledge of metallurgy and material properties
