We are seeking a skilled and dependable Mid-Level Fabrication Technician to perform steel and mechanical component fabrication for power plant applications. This role requires the ability to work independently on routine fabrication tasks, interpret basic-to-intermediate drawings, and assist in equipment preparation and quality checks. The technician will support both workshop and on-site fabrication activities, contributing to the safe and timely execution of projects.
Perform cutting, grinding, drilling, and shaping of metal components for structural and piping systems.
Assist with fit-up and tack welding preparation for complex assemblies.
Assemble supports, brackets, trays, frames, and similar fabricated components.
Read and interpret basic-to-intermediate fabrication drawings and material lists.
Accurately measure and mark materials to ensure dimensional compliance.
Identify material types and understand tolerances and fabrication standards.
Operate fabrication shop equipment (e.g., grinders, saws, drills, presses) safely and efficiently.
Perform minor maintenance of tools and report any malfunctions or wear.
Follow standard procedures for machine setup and shutdown.
Follow all site and shop safety protocols, including PPE use and hazard reporting.
Check fabricated parts for dimensional accuracy and report defects or non-conformities.
Support 5S and housekeeping practices to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Executing intermediate fabrication tasks for power plant systems
Reading and applying fabrication drawings
Ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency in shop operations
Supporting welders, senior fabricators, and QA personnel
Education:
Technical diploma or vocational certificate in fabrication, mechanical trades, or welding
Experience:
3–6 years of experience in mechanical/structural fabrication, ideally in power plant or industrial sectors
Skills:
Proficient with cutting, grinding, measuring, and basic assembly
Able to read and follow structural/mechanical fabrication drawings
Familiarity with fabrication tolerances, shop math, and materials handling
Strong safety mindset and attention to quality and detail
