We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Junior Fabrication Technician to assist in the fabrication, preparation, and basic assembly of mechanical components and steel structures within a power plant environment. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals starting their career in mechanical fabrication, offering opportunities to gain practical experience in cutting, grinding, material handling, and equipment operation under experienced supervision.
Assist with basic metal fabrication tasks such as cutting, grinding, and drilling.
Support the preparation of materials for welding and assembly processes.
Operate hand tools and basic shop equipment under guidance.
Handle raw materials and assist in organizing materials for fabrication work.
Clean and prepare metal surfaces for welding, painting, or assembly.
Assist in moving, loading, and staging components safely in the workshop.
Follow all workshop safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to fabrication tasks.
Keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
Participate in on-the-job training programs focused on fabrication processes and safety.
Develop familiarity with fabrication drawings, measurement tools, and fabrication equipment.
Gain exposure to power plant-specific structural and piping fabrication standards.
Supporting fabrication technicians and welders in shop tasks
Learning safe and effective fabrication techniques
Handling materials and preparing components
Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the fabrication area
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or coursework in mechanical or fabrication fields preferred
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in mechanical or steel fabrication (internship/apprenticeship preferred)
Skills:
Basic knowledge of hand tools and measurement instruments
Good physical fitness and manual dexterity
Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and prioritize safety
Team player with a strong work ethic
