The Junior Fabrication Supervisor – Valve Bodies and Components is an entry-level leadership role supporting the daily operations of valve component fabrication in a manufacturing environment. This position assists in supervising a team of welders, machinists, and metalworkers involved in the cutting, forming, machining, and welding of valve bodies and related parts. The role ensures adherence to safety, quality, and production standards while learning to manage workflows, interpret technical drawings, and support continuous improvement efforts on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight & Scheduling
Assist in coordinating daily fabrication tasks, ensuring alignment with production schedules and customer requirements.
Monitor work-in-progress to help maintain flow and reduce bottlenecks in valve body and component fabrication.
Workforce Support & Supervision
Support the lead supervisor in overseeing the activities of welders, CNC operators, and metal fabricators.
Promote safe work practices and compliance with safety regulations (e.g., PPE, LOTO, machine guarding).
Participate in shift handovers and team meetings to communicate goals and issues.
Quality & Technical Compliance
Help ensure that fabricated components meet quality specifications, tolerances, and surface finish standards.
Conduct basic inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges; escalate issues to quality or engineering teams.
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings with guidance from senior staff.
Training & Process Improvement
Support onboarding of new technicians and assist with skill development on fabrication equipment.
Contribute ideas for improving fabrication efficiency, safety, and material utilization.
Document fabrication records and support implementation of 5S and lean initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Diploma or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Welding, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred
Vocational training or certifications in welding/fabrication (AWS, NIMS) are a plus
Experience:
1–3 years of experience in metal fabrication or valve manufacturing environment
Prior experience in a lead or mentoring role is helpful but not required
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of fabrication equipment (CNC machines, welders, press brakes, cutting tools)
Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform dimensional inspections
Familiarity with metal types (carbon steel, stainless, alloy) and welding procedures (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW)
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Willingness to learn supervisory and planning responsibilities
Good communication and teamwork skills
Adaptability to changing production priorities
