The Senior Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing and optimizing the entire fabrication floor operation, including planning, resource allocation, process adherence, quality control, and personnel supervision. This role plays a key part in achieving production targets, maintaining fabrication quality, and ensuring safety compliance in a high-volume or precision manufacturing environment.
Plan and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly fabrication schedules
Lead cross-functional coordination with planning, QA/QC, design, and maintenance teams
Monitor progress against production targets and intervene in bottlenecks
Supervise complex fabrication processes including structural assembly, pressure vessel fabrication, piping, or sheet metal work
Review and interpret detailed fabrication drawings, WPS/PQR, and welding symbols
Ensure execution of special processes like heat treatment, NDT, and fit-up checks as needed
Lead, mentor, and assess a team of fabricators, welders, fitters, and machine operators
Oversee shift planning, attendance, and workforce utilization
Implement skills enhancement and safety training programs
Enforce strict compliance with welding/fabrication standards (ASME, AWS, ISO, etc.)
Ensure first-time-right quality by managing in-process checks, stage inspections, and rework control
Promote a strong safety culture and conduct regular toolbox talks, audits, and incident reviews
Ensure optimal usage of machines (plasma cutting, press brake, welding sets, bending/rolling)
Drive productivity and minimize downtime through preventive maintenance coordination
Implement Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
Lead day-to-day shop-floor fabrication operations to meet delivery schedules
Ensure dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and overall workmanship
Coordinate material flow, tool availability, and consumable inventory
Maintain shift reports, production records, rework logs, and performance metrics
Interface with QA/QC teams during internal and customer inspections
Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Fabrication / Welding Technology
7–12+ years of experience in fabrication with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory/leadership capacity
Expert in fabrication of structural components, tanks, skids, frames, and piping
Strong leadership and communication skills with proven team handling experience
Proficient in reading complex engineering drawings and welding standards
Familiar with ERP/shop-floor software, reporting systems, and MS Office
Exposure to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ASME Section IX, and relevant codes/standards
Background in industries such as oil & gas, heavy engineering, energy, or infrastructure
Certified welding inspector (CWI/CSWIP) is a plus
Working knowledge of CNC programming/nesting software for fabrication planning
Workshop-based, active involvement in machine shop and shop floor supervision
Extended standing and exposure to heat/noise; PPE compliance mandatory
May involve shift duties or weekend supervision as per project schedules
